The free instant messenger Yahoo Livetext has come to Russia for the users of Android and iOS. The fact that today the service is available worldwide has been reported in the official blog of Yahoo.
A characteristic feature of the new messenger is the mute video function, where users can see each other on the screens of their mobile devices in a silent mode while texting or choose correspondence as the main tool of communication and send video messages conveying more emotions from time to time.
As the Senior Director of Product Management of Yahoo Arjun Satkhi reported to TechCrunch, video makes communication easier and more stress-free. The absence of sound means that background noise will not interfere with the communication. Before the product enters the global market Yahoo has tested it in the United States and Hong Kong where the service was made available in July 2015.
The global release does not support Japanese and Arabic. This is not the first attempt of Yahoo to take a share in the market of instant messaging services. In May 2014 the company acquired the Blink startup that created the eponymous messenger automatically erasing the messages in some time after they are read.
The transaction amount was not disclosed. In October of the same year Yahoo bought the MessageMe messenger for $ 11, 9 million.
